Poetry and Prose

Let the music play forever

Where the music goes, I follow.
If there ever comes a day that music is no more,
Then I shall write songs for others to share
Until I, too, am gone from this world.

Temporal Vectors

Remember the past.
Live in the present.
Dream of the future.

Only when you realize where you’ve come from, where you are now, and where you want to be can you figure out if you’re going in the right direction.

Quiet Does Not Always Mean Calm

To rant, or not to rant? For I have many questions.
But is it better to remain silent and appear sound of mind
While keeping the illusion of peace and amity
Or to thrash like a madman against invisible walls
And by full discosure smash them.

Rage, Reflected

This monstrous beast in me is a child of the savage world I see.

Aimless Drifter

going through life with ease
but your eyes betray your sorrow
your fame and fortune are borrowed
you’re an insignificant spec wafting in the breeze

pushing all thoughts through a sifter
pains and troubles dismissed
after all, ignorance is bliss
but in the end you’re just a spineless grifter

your whole life is a confidence scheme
you think you’re so smart
your confidence is a […]

Every dark cloud has a neon splat

melancholic puddle meets bubblegum rain boots
tiny hands stir and splash in the mud
candy drops pitter-patter on the sidewalk
run up and pat me gently on the cheek
rainbow handprints splattered on gray
laughter sweeps away the brooding fog

You might not drown in the shallows, but you can still slip and hit your head on the rocks

standing in the shallows of the mainstream
the litter
the debris
the garbage

shortsighted perceptions
cross-eyed observations
haphazard conclusions

of the delusional and deranged
of the ignorant and arrogant
of creeps and trolls

of morons whose accummulated knowledge
have as much breadth as a bug’s breath

dizzy from the stench
deaf from the wailing

the annoying whinings and pinings
the aggrandized essays on the trivial
the self-righteous proclamations

of spoiled brats and […]

Between Two Worlds

There are worlds inside my head obscured by haze. I see only the edges, blurry landscapes yet unformed. I fumble at my own thoughts but find nothing more tangible than clouds and fog. The only part that’s clear is the shoreline where I stand, waves lapping at my feet and wind brushing at my face. […]

Now I lay me down to sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep
embrace the darkness vast and deep
I cast off all my earthly tethers
body weightless, mind unfettered
Free to conjure tales of myth and lore
or visit otherworldly shores
Should my adventures end before the dawn
through the universe my soul journeys on

The Coffee’s Not Helping

floating in dream-like space
saturated with sleepiness
consciousness fading

as I sip at bland coffee work ethic slips away
my slippers
where did I leave them this time

weariness pervades
last tatters of energy
burnt out in a sigh

awake enough only to acknowledge piles of laundry
never does itself
groan deep breath eyes roll look away simulated snore

no strength to fight the horrors of grammar
and […]
